Astronomical Observatory
An observatory having a 5 inch diameter telescope and two other smaller telescopes, is maintained by the Physics Group (Mechanical Department) of the Institute. The Observatory being located away from the urban pollution and at a higher altitude provides excellent opportunity to observe the celestial objects with far more clarity than the the ones which are located within the campus for the sake of students who wish to take up 'star-gazing' as a hobby.
The "Astronomy Club" regularly conducts sessions for viewing celestial objects. A large number of students make use of this excellent facility to learn basic astronomy as a hobby while a smaller number of them take active part in the research work being conducted in collaboration with S.E.T.I ( Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence ) and also with various other National and International organizations.
